What is Compostable Wrap?
Compostable Wrap is a certified 100% compostable magazine mailing film that has been developed as an alternative to the oxo-degradable plastic wrap that is in the market today. How was Compostable Wrap developed?
In January 2020, whilst completing his MBA degree at the University of South Australia, The Direct Mail Centre of Australia's Managing Director Chris Lawson was tasked with assessing the external environment his business operated in. Recognising a shift in consumer preferences away from single use plastics coupled with impending bans on oxo-degradable plastic in various states, Mr Lawson realised there was an opportunity for a greener alternative to traditional plastic wrap.
Coming from an environmentally conscious household Mr. Lawson contacted BioBag Australia (The manufacturers of his Compostable bin liners) and together they set forth on a 6 month journey to create a 100% home compostable mailing film that meets Australia Post's bulk mail and print post requirements. In July 2020 Australia's first clear 100% Compostable magazine Wrap was used to mail out 50,000 magazines.
